I think there is a fine line between 'Support' and 'Premium Support' - according to our policies, we cannot support codes that are not supplied by us, but in many instances we have done this in good faith to help out our users.
Obviously we do not have unlimited time and we have to address all customers equally, to be fair to all, we have limited a time frame window for support requests, which is 3 months from your date of purchase of SmartAdmin. If your support questions falls out of scope of our support policies, for example "mixing two or more plugins to achieve a certain result" or "asking us for tutorials or debugging of your own codes..." and any questions that isn't covered by our support policies whereby we end up supporting your development need or requirement, then you will need to purchase the developer's time for your custom solution.
For the last 6 years, all our updates has been free of charge.
